FIAT 124 SPORT COUPERosso Sierra with grey and red check interior only 45000 km from new, around 28000 miles.
I bought this car from a dealer friend of mine in Perugia having originally gone to see a Fiat Dino coupe. Whilst perusing the rest of his stock while he was dealing with a customer I spotted this, it looked quite unremarkable to start with but the more I looked the more interested I became, the shut lines were perfect and all the panels were straight, a closer inspection revealed perfect wheel arches still showing the original factory spot welds, the underside was completely original as well ‘have a go in it’ Simone said. I’ve never driven one of these before and was amazed at the lightness of the controls and the sharp steering; it’s like a more resolved Alfa 105 coupe. The Fiat 124 Coupe. Launched in 1967 as a coupe and spider with a 90hp 1.4 litre twin cam engine, disc brakes all round a 5 speed gearbox and double wishbone front suspension. The two cars received universal praise as a nimble fun to drive sports car, the only real criticism being that they were slightly under powered, the first revision, ‘B’ sought to answer this by the addition of a 110 bhp high compression twin carburetor 1.6 but Fiat in their wisdom ‘softened’ the suspension and changed the cars personality this did not please everybody. In answer the third and final revision ‘C’ saw a return to the original and tighter suspension set up so the car finally had both the power and handling to match. This Car. So this is a third C series car, registered on the 12/10/1973. Full Gold plate ASI registered. It has had 3 owners the second keeping it until 2013, spending all its life in the warm and dry Perugia region of Italy. All the body panels are factory original and it certainly doesn’t look to have been in an accident but what surprises the most is the complete lack of any rust, rare even in Italy. The immaculate and original interior is an unusual grey with red check, it has also been specified with the unique Cromadora 68 alloy wheels. It also has a set of 7" Cromadora type 66 alloy wheels as on the Ferrari Dino, available separately. Mechanicals. The engine is in perfect condition it fires up instantly and sounds crisp with rapid throttle response, excellent oil pressure and not a whiff of blue smoke. The gearbox is light and quick with no noise or synchromesh bulking. Body. In it’s Original Rosso Sierra paintwork the body is factory original throughout, rust and accident free, although the paint has been refreshed at some point to a good standard with no overspray or poor masking evident, with just one or two stone chips it retains all its original features. The doors open and shut easily and fit perfectly, no slamming needed! Interior, When I first saw the seats I thought they had been re-trimmed so fresh do the coverings look but no they’re original. It has had seat covers and floor mats from new which are retained with the car. There is no wear anywhere at all only a couple of small cracks on the dashboard. Everything but everything works even the clock. Boot Clean, tidy and undamaged with it’s original carpet a full tool kit, jack and alloy spare wheel with serviceable tyre! I drive all our cars because I love them but also to expose any faults and all this car needed was a radiator cap and thermostat. It will come fully serviced, this means engine, gearbox and differential oil change, new brake fluid and cam belt and will be UK registered with 12 months MOT.
