FIAT 850 SPORT COUPE S1 Orient blue with red vinyl and new original spec black rubber mats with new over mats also original spec.
The Fiat 850. The Fiat 850 was introduced as a 2-door saloon in 1964 to replace the 600 with a more powerful 843cc engine. The sport coupe and spider appeared in 1965, both drew praise from testers of the day for having a decent turn of speed and excellent handling, Road and Track described the coupe as ‘One of the best balanced and hansom designs available'. it is a little known fact that they were designed by one time Ferrari designer Boano The engines had higher compression pistons than the saloon with around 25% more power and will do nearly 50mpg, they also had disc front brakes as well as other improvments. It was revised in 1968 with twin headlights and rear lights plus a 903cc engine but lost some of the finer detailing, charm and proportion of the original Boano design. There were several Abarth versions with 1000-2000cc engines. This Car. This is the third one of these I have had now, they are so appealing, lovely to drive, really simple to work on, a very pretty and alluring little car that makes everyone smile as you drive pass. Essentially a two owner car, it was first registered in Udine on the 25th of May 1966 to a Mr Calligrafi, he owned it until the 1st of March 1999 when it was sold to Ermanno Bonamini and he sold it last year to the chap I bought it from who had recommisioned it as it was virtually unused. Mechanical, The engine has just been refreshed and is running perfectly and pulls eagerly doesn't rattle of smoke at all even from cold, it warms to the correct running temperature ensuring no plug and valve fouling. The gearbox and drive train are faultless and make no undue noise. The brakes work perfectly, flexible hoses and rear wheel cylinders have been replaced as they were suffering from lack of use. It has four recent tyres, fresh oil, bottom hose fuel pump rebuilt carburettor new fuuel pump shock absorbers re built steering box new idler and ball joints, I've just had four wheel alignment carried out so it drives and brakes in a straight line! Body. The body is rust free, original, very straight and undamaged. It has had a very high quality re-spray and is virtually flawless with just a couple of 'touch-ins' evident The chrome is in amazing condition with a deep shine, no pitting or corrosion. Everything works; the windows open and shut easily, the doors shut with a pleasing clunk and fit perfectly. Interior. The seats are the original 1966 items and look almost new . The rubber floor mats are brand new original spec items with original spec over mats the one in the boot has also been replaced as the original one had become brittle. All the gauges function as they should. Boot, In the front of this car! All original with jack and full tool kit. New original spec floor mat.
