New premium carpets with floor sound deadening. Original listing. White with Black leather and red carpets, and electric windows The Flaminia Coupe was introduced at the Turin Motor show in 1958, nearly two years after the saloon. The styling was based on the Aurelia Florida designed by Battista Pininfarina and considered by many to be his most influential design, it was also his personal favourite and he drove one for the rest of his life. The cars initially had a single carburettor and drum brakes but disc brakes replaced the drums early on. A triple carburettor replaced the single in 1962 and the Flaminia became the Flaminia 3B and the power went from 119 to 130 bhp in 1963 the engine was enlarged to 2.8 and the power was raised to 136bhp. The suspension consists of unequal length double wishbones with coil springs at the front and a De Dion axle at the rear, based on the all-conquering D50, this combined with 50 50 weight distribution due to having the all alloy V6 engine at the front and gearbox (transaxle) at the rear, made for excellent handling. This particular car was first registered in Rome in 1963 and then moved to Sicily some 15 years later. It has covered 96000 kms, about 58000 miles and is completely original and rust free, it even has its original battery tray, which is the first part of these cars to suffer from corrosion. It has had much re-commissioning work carried out including new rear brake calipers, re built starter motor, complete new exhaust system, overhauled carburettors re furbished wheels, new battery new brake fluid, coolant, oil changed etc. etc. The car drives perfectly the gearbox works well and is very quite, the engine performs excellently, doesn’t smoke, I carried out a compression check and all were better than expected. Exterior, Generally it’s all superb. The paintwork has a beautiful patina to it but retains an excellent shine, it would be impossible to re-create. The rear bumpers and over riders have been re-chromed the front ones are good. The chrome around the windows is perfect and has never been off the car and is still really crisp. Working electric aerial. Interior. Completely original and very tidy, and extremely rare optional electric windows that also work. Drivetrain, as mentioned, the engine and gearbox are pretty much faultless the engine is showing excellent compression, the steering wheel sits level no whines from anywhere. Refurbished wheels with five recent tyres. Boot. Rubber mats all present and correct and undamaged. Spare wheel and jack. Summary. Considered the best driving of all Flaminias, a view shared by Peter Harding one of the most respected specialists in the UK, this car demonstrates this fact sublimely. Just a lovely and very sophisticated car.
